I had listened to the first twilight, but couldn't get into it.(I wasn't ready to accept the non caustic/abrasive type black metal yet.) I just revisited them because of this post and I dig it way more. It's crazy how music taste, atleast for me, comes in increments. For example, I can listen to something and not enjoy it one day, but after time and listening to other things, I can later appreciate it. That's really how I started enjoying black metal to begin with.jfrey wrote:Listening to a lot of Twilight lately. Monument to Time End is so fucking good.

This is REALLY good. Definitely has a classic vibe to it. Really wonderful sense of dynamics.

I'm really liking the couple of tracks I've heard from the new Leviathan record:

Have you been reading Wrest's interviews these days? I can't lay claim to have been into Leviathan/Wrest or a large part of the USBM movement, or any black metal movement, outside of the "I really enjoy a lot of what I'm exposed to" area, but I find the guy pretty interesting.

Yeah, I have. Kind of weird to read interview after interview of a dude that doesn't like giving interviews, but since that's how the album was being premiered, and since it was really good, I think I finished 'em all. Some interesting bits, some not so interesting bits, but he also pretty much nailed how I feel about black metal (and metal in general) in his Noisey interview:

I totally wholeheartedly enjoy the kvltspeak, the occultness of corpse paint and that imagery, but that’s not me now.

I like this one, but you can really tell sometimes that drums are his first instrument, not saying that is a bad thing, but it does come through.

I've only had the opportunity to give Scar Sighted a partial listen but I enjoy it.
I know there's something to be said for not caring how the recording sounds but I do enjoy the sonic qualities of this a great deal.
I don't mind the swash of noise that you sometimes get with lofi quality recording. I just like this a helluva lot better.
I'm not trve.

Re: BLACK METAL THREAD
Just wanted to sing some praises for a band/album I'm a little late get into. Just got into Cobalt recently with the whole singers comment thing, but Gin is an awesome album. I dont know how BM i consider it but I definitely get a Gorgoroth, under the sign of hell vibe from some of it.
