Doing it right!

Kinda sounds like you guys are where I am with recording and mics and stuff. I'm just beginning to educate4 myself and holy shit are mics expensive.
This was a hella nice way to start the morning off. I could visualize the room and the vibe you all must have been groovin on. Dark and thick, parts reminded me of some of the new flux stuff, although it came from and was going to different places, just that filthy in your face heavy. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

no man...look at that...sloppy wiring!![]()
so last night this arrived at my house...some of you have probably already seen it. But this thing sounds so badass its not funny. I got a good 2 hours with it today, and played it by itself and did the stereo set up with my marshall. They are very different beasts...the Matamp is brighter, but lacks no bottom end, the best way i can put it is that is just has all the frequencies...when you turn the bass up, it doesn't lose the highs etc. I'm probably not explaining it well, but when i play with the eq on the marshall, there comes a point where you start losing highs with the bass being turned up.
anyway...here are pics...![]()
also...did a quick soundcloud track...with marshall and matamp...i toggle back and forth and then go stereo. The matamp is set to a bit of breakup and the marshall is clean...when you hear each amp by itself you can hear a bit of jangle in the matamp, and the darkness in the marshall...but together...oh my!!

God dammit that Matamp is sexy. Sounds great too. Had me eyeing a GT40 and discussing exchange rates with my wife. All I got was an eye roll

Hey, it beats the stuff on our bandcamp page!

It was recorded using the most butt-ass equipment possible. Like $20 mics, $40 interface, etc. Summit's basement is a little too dank for my good gear cuz yes microphones are expensive and there's no way I'm leaving my KSM 137s etc. down there. I think the nicest one in there is an AKG d112 or possibly the Cascade LDC. If it works, twerk it, right?

Holy shit, you guys have been owning the Internet in here.
Too much to catch up on but I have been lurking and I'm pretty sure it's helping me to recover at least 70% better than other non-prescription doom forums.
On the topic of which, I'm putting my Ape Blaster up for sale later, but if any of you guys want it at a fucking bargain, PM me and we'll sort it out. I'm thinking $130AU gets it to your dommbreaux door.
For the record, I'm only moving it on because I have committed to THE MOTHER FUCKING SILVERBACK.
Gotta get me in on dat monochrome lyfe.

Semper ubi, sub ubi! THat's my motto and I'm sticking to it. Mic comments were in no way reflective of the music, which I thoroughly enjoyed, just feeling ya guys on how it ends up translated through gear.
Zhat said,
Recommendations on mics that perform above their price point please.
I'd like to take what I can do here, and push that envelope. And I think the Doomunity could benefit, or at least those of us not fully down that rabbits pit.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Just got around to listening to that track...Summit and John...that sounds really cool. I enjoyed the build ups and weird shit, but it was still very well strung together. I want to hear more!
The Matamp is so rediculously good. The only thing that sucks is that I can't put the Marshall on top or underneath it...the heads are so badly mismatched in dimensions that they can balance on each other. So for now, the stereo set up is the Matamp and the CR120...which is ok, but not as good as the marshall. Not going to do anything about it now, as im too close to moving...but in the long run, if I have enough space, i''ll get another 2x12, or 4x12 or 2x15 for the marshall. Or...get a new head sleeve made for the marshall which is deep enough for the matamp to sit on top.
