i'd fucking gladly murder everyone within 100 yards of me right now for a steady 45k/year job. so i guess count yourself lucky. i've been in my field for over ten years now and i'm in the midst of yet another several week period where i don't know where i'm going to get another fucking paycheck. and i just spent almost every dollar have on a truck cause my old one shit the bed and i can't work at all without one.snipelfritz wrote:I just saw a job listing offering 40-45k salary that requires a degree and 5-7 years experience.
That's absolutely absurd, right?
I can't stand another day of my current job, but I've almost given up on ever finding a job that utilizes my degree.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Hey, I just found out that the company the acquired the one I have been with is letting my department go…after we were repeatedly told that we were safe. There was an ominous email telling us about "organizational changes" and that we would each be called individually to go over the changes. We knew immediately what that meant. Our last day is Friday the 13th. I do get a month of severance pay and whatever commission I have earned up to the 13th.
I figured that some aspects of my job would change, maybe it would be better, maybe it would be worse. I updated my resume and started talking to recruiters last week. I have an interview next week. It is for a job that I think would be really good.
Sales…high risk, high reward. On the upside, I have made some great professional connections, the industry that I work in (B2B Business Applications, aka Business Software) has a lot of people that jump around and so some of these connections will be worthwhile down the road.
On the downside, I have a baby due in 3 months so that does add a bit more stress.
Ultimately, I know I will find another good job soon but this still sucks balls.

Coming down with strep throat. My girlfriend got it at the end of last week and I was hoping that I wasn't going to get it. Turns out luck wasn't on my side this time.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I dropped my phone today and got a crack of the screen... It's towards the bottom and the touchscreen still works fine, but I have to look at it now.
The first half of this week has just been god awful for me. Hopefully, it turns around.
I'm chilling at my parents house tonight so I'll bring home food and clean laundry tomorrow. Then we're playing a show at this little dive like a block and a half from my apartment. It's always super fun to play and we should have a pretty good turnout. Either way I'll get smashed on free pbr (bottles even!) and work this new haircut to try and get some strange.
Yeah, this week should turn around.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
I post here and on Reddit, that's about it. In the /r/guitarpedals, I suggested a guy who doesn't have any fuzz boxes check out some boutique stuff (Fuzzhugger, Noisemaker, Malekko), instead of just buying a Big Muff with Tone Wicker, which is the default pedal of /r/guitarpedals. For that, I am labeled a hipster. I have to give up on that place and leave them to their BMTW and Tubescreamer worship. One less place to socialize, I guess.

If Tubescreamers and current U.S Muffs are their idea of good dirt and fuzz pedals then I say you are doing the right thing bailing on those morons. You are better than them. I was a fuckwit. That was most of the problem. The rest of it was self-induced blunt force trauma. Now I have acute angle closure and sudden onset glaucoma type of thang going on. Got surgery on Tuesday. Banking on that to make it all betterer.
