Yeah, didn't much care for predatory light though.
I ended up at the Alleyway first for what was supposed to be "black/doom".
A band called Mindshrouds first show.
Sounded like a slightly more extreme Amebix.

Funny. I tried to go to the mind shroud show but I had the day wrong. A friend of mine is in that band. It's their first show, so hopefully they'll get better.

I also missed shroud of the heretic. And I missed at the gates even though I was on the list. Life is dumb and I've missed all the shows recently.

i need speaker reccomendations. i know there's been a ton of discussion on here about speakers, so sorry to bring it up again, but here's the deal. i fried the voice coils in two speakers in one of my cabs. i've been thinking about trying some different speakers for a little while and have actually recently even been entertaining the idea of new cabs. since i have to spend money on speakers anyway, maybe i should just think about spending a lot more money. for a long time i've been playing a full stack with vintage 30's. i really do like the vintage 30's, but i'm thinking maybe i wouldn't mind finding something that has just a little better low end and tames a little of the potential harshness in the upper/upper mid range area of the v30. i do like a bright speaker with a jamming mid range, which is why i've been playing these, but maybe there's something better. i need something that retains definition during long passages of fast tremolo picking. something with some clarity and mid range bite. i love the v30 for that and i don't think something like swamp things are going to do it for me. here's the other thing, i'm not interested in suggestions of mixing speakers. ultimately, i want a speaker that i can just be happy loading two cabs with. many of the shows we play have the cabs miced. and for simplicity's sake, i don't want to be demanding grumpy sound dudes in other towns to be putting a bunch of different mics on my cabs. i've been through this and they're always grumpy and pissed about it. and i don't see the point in having mixed speakers in a cab if it's not what's coming out of the PA. i just want to hear the same signal that's being sent to the PA so that when i dial my shit in to what i hear, it's the same as what they here out front.

that was the short version of that rant. so anyway, suggestions would be very much appreciated. thanks.

Weber 65s. I had V30s and they were too harsh and not enough low end. Weber 65s fixed all of that I wasn't happy about V30s . Another one that I've been really happy with were the WGS 55hz Reaper. Its a little darker, but not much. Mids are still there, just rolled off the treble. Lows are great too. They might be a little too dark for you but I know You'd probably dig the Weber 65s. They are exactly like what you are describing that you're wanting.

I suppose it doesn't make sense to fuck with something I already like, but I may need to reload another 412 in the next few months. I'm in a similar boat, I REALLY like my V30s in my one cab, but I was curious about having a stereo 412 if I needed to run 2 heads when moving 2 412s might be problematic. I don't think I could afford 4 of the Webers, but i might be able to swing the WGS variants. Any ideas how their ET65s and ET90s stack up?

I was going to suggest seeing if you can try Eminence Governors too. Basically everything good about the V30's, but with better power handling, better low end, and no more ice pick.

Although it's the Celestion version, I agree with this and would recommend having a look at the Heritage G12-65 or Creamback. Weber or WGS may be cheaper for you in the States, though, and I'm sure Eminence have their version of it.

So much speaker advice...this stuff needs to be written down into a doom bible! Especially since i will need to refer to it in a few months.

So sitting here on a hospital bed...had my second operation today...thankfully dont need a third one! Its all good...but something unerving about seeing blood coming out my cock...my gown has blood stains covering the crutch area, which is so metal!

i actually found conky's thread from a while back about speaker advice, which had skip chiming in with some very relevant wisdom to my current situation. definitely seeming like the gt65's are what i'm looking for. i didn't realize that it was sort of based on the greenback. i love the sound of greenbacks, but they're not high enough wattage for me to feel comfortable with. i'm worried i'd shred them in short order. but the 65's sound great. i'm kind of leaning towards the wgs et65's. sounds like they're maybe a little brighter and closer to a v30, which i like and based on the specs on all the manufacturer's websites, it seems that they're more efficient than the others, which i like. get a little more volume out of my rig. and, they're waaayyy cheaper than the others. which rules. i've been in touch with a certain cab builder about some ideas i have, so we'll see how that shakes out. i appreciate everyone's help on here.

they made me change my gown...they said it looked really bad...in a weird way I was kinda sad to see it go, i wanted evidence of my battle scars!!
