I'm thinking about adding a blend to a Naga Viper. Anyone done this? I initially got it as a boost, but I like the sort of nasal whine thing it does in the high end register, and end up with it on more often than not. The only problem is it basically chops off the low end. I'm thinking being able to mix some of it back in would be nice, and would make this less of an all or nothing tone shaping option. Does this make sense?
Not to sound totally stupid, but does it still chop off the low end if you run it into something else?

I only find mine chops the low end if I have it set too far to pure treble boost. Mine was put together by greyscales, and I find the range knob is a little weird (like too much turn that doesn't do anything) but I don't find it gets muddy when I turn it to full range boost. For some reason I was under the impression the range knob was just a blend type control for the low end anyway. Mine likes to be run with dirt...

Mournful used the Bogner/Line 6 Alchemist and a Marshall JVM 410h on all their recordings. But Damon told me they're all looking into Engl now since they used it on their back line on a tour.

The fact that Sunn rents backlines is definitely true -- whether or not they had one as far back as, uh, 2006 is the part that remains tentative. I can't remember.

I believe he has somewhere in the range of 10-12 Model T's at any given time. They've posted studio photo's before with 10 amps stacked on top of each other, whether their his or Greg's or a combo of each of their collections is up in the air.

That's a weird setup but their recorded tones sound great. Their delay'd guitar solo tones are eerily similar to what I use, that makes me happy.

That's what I'm thinking it was due to rented backlines and possibly for a DI signal to FOH.

On mine, the range knob has a great effect across the scale, and even at the lowest setting, it still behaves like an aggressive high pass filter.(possibly confused on hp v lp) At the same time it boosts and colors the mids and highs in a way I really like,. For tight fast parts, it's perfect. for for slower atmospheric parts, it's to much of a loss on the low end and sounds a little thin. Still great when I get up into the higher bits, but the low notes and chords lack. It'd be fine if the difference was not so dramatic, which is why I'm thinking about a blend option.

I guess it would make sense if the backline was some high gain modern bs and you just wanted to bypass the pre amp? Again, I'd just bring preferred head but I'm not dealing with traveling on that scale.

I think it's either the value of the pot or the way the caps are wired up to it causing mine to act wonky. All my usable range that doesn't cut bass is in the last quarter turn of the knob. Still, I find mine to push a fair amount of bass on the max setting..I wonder if there are more differences between mine and an actual Catalinbread one that I'm unaware of?
I guess to be fair too, I don't leave mine on all the time anymore either. Usually when I need chords to cut more or to thicken up my other dirt pedal. It adds a nice little "oomph" placed after my OCD. Really depends on where I want to be in the mix next to our other guitarist and bassist.
