Anybody try Railhammer Gnarly 90s at all? Thinking about buying one for the bridge in my Fender Cyclone. Just want some opinions if any exist here in the Doom Room.

I am also very interested in this question. I wanna get a black SG and put either the gnarly 90's or alumitones in it, but at the moment I am leaning towards the 90's based on youtube demos and general descriptions. Sounds like the 90's have a little more 'character' compared to the flat and 'hi-fi' response of the alumitones. They sound good in this video, but I wanna get a feel for the output and how they do the heavies.

With the bands I mentioned, it's the opposite. Aside from Anhedonist really. But the rest start off as old school dismember style death metal and have nice little doom passages in each song.

yea some of the ones you listed are just death metal. not all slow death metal is death doom.

Malevolent Creation is the complete opposite of anything doomy.. I honestly feel you are thinking of the wrong band cause that's how incorrect that is. No one even back then considered them deathdoom. Ol boy is pretty damn close to the money with the bands he listed. Throw in bands like Cianide, Coffins, Hooded Menance... it's not that it randomly gets slow usually they are slow to begin with and randomly speed up is more like it.

actually it really isn't extra hot in my unit or space but it doesn't matter that fucker is dead dead dead. So I'd have to take it so someone to find out what the fuck is wrong

not pleased in the least.

My memory was a lil "foggy" yesterday you'll have to forgive me  I honestly have no idea why I included MC, I know I was thinking of another band that I still havent remembered  Jungle rot I thought had some what used to be called "breakdown" parts that I thought were pretty doomy, but I may be remembering wrong. One of these days I'm gonna have to go back through my teen age years CD binder and relisten to stuff to make sure my memory is correct.... Coffins to me though is pretty much the "go to" for dethdoom, those guys are freakin sick.

Damn dude!!! Sorry to hear about the orange!!! Please let us know if you find out what happened to it.

it's no problem I might of sounded snappy, it was a long day yesterday and just the disappointment with the orange was the main catalyst with that but it's all good. it's always great to revisit all death metal. I pretty much still listen to the same shit I did back when I was 16 sure I've added more to it since then but never abandoned my past... well aside from all the stuff I picked up from bands we played with in my skramz band. lot of it really wasn't good but I got it since we played with them.

But Coffins is the epitome of greatness and that sweet sweet distortion powering through everything.

blake judd is a junkie that scammed tons of people, thankfully I wasn't one of them. I still enjoy his band though it seems to be hip not to like them because of him personally. I can separate the person from the art.

midnight duder was a much bigger twat than i was even aware of. fucking lol

Well, disEMBOWELMENT is a pioneer of death/doom. Ataraxie is funeral death/doom. And although the metallum of the other bands may not say it, the other bands consider themselves death/doom or doomed death metal.
Symptom is heavily influenced by Anhedonist to the point of taking and modifying their riffs to his own end. The guy in Symptom is also in Shroud of the Heretic. They consider themselves death/doom. The vocalist from Shroud of the Heretic is also in Sempiternal Dusk, which is the band who calls themselves doomed death metal. The other members happen to be members of Anhedonist and Aldebaran which are Death/doom funeralish doom.

Well, if I was setting the bar high in quality I'd mention Brent Monson. But that Blake Judd. What an ass of a junkie.

It seems like there's a lot of folks who have good reasons to have a problem with that dude, but did he do something to you personally?

I've been scammed out of Nachtmystium gear by Blake.

I wasn't talking about disembowelment. shame on you for thinking I was. same with Anhedonist and aldebaran

sorry I have both Symptom and shround of the heretic and I guess they can consider themselves that but I certainly don't because it's just simply death metal. S.D. i can see it being doomy but not full out like liars in wait or morpheous descends.

Look I don't want to get in some schematics war with you. I'm going to go on and say I honestly know all these bands and more that you have listed. cause with this pissing contest i'll end up drowning you, son. :idk:

Nah, you gotta add in shitting on other builders and dissing their pedals in one post and then when you call him out on it he says he was just offering constructive criticism and meant no harm. Also, I don't believe I've ever heard that midnight dude say that if you don't play a V4 with Gold Lions then your tone is shit.

Don't forget making his pedal offerings by stealing other builders ideas and rushing to get them out before they do so he can claim them as his own and then basically saying nanana booboo and sticking out his tongue..... :picard:

I've been refraining from commenting because I thought that Nic would have at least issued a public comment by now, but he hasn't.
I've been in contact with him, he has been going through some very tough times lately and I think the combination of his recent accident and current personal issues are keeping him rather preoccupied.
He says he is getting back on top of pedal orders and is nearly caught up.
Now, I know that this doesn't explain why he hasn't issued a statement or made very public apologies, unless he feels he can't really air his laundry, so to speak.
To be honest, I cannot understand that and if he won't defend himself by at least giving, what I've heard, are some damn good reasons for getting behind on orders and communications breaking down, then I can't defend him either.
Which I didn't come here to do.
I just thought I might pop in and say this may be one of those cases where we give him the benefit of the doubt.
The guy started a fledgling business.
May have made some claims about the size of orders he was unable to deliver on in a timely manner.
And then has gone through some pretty tough times.
He's made some fairly hefty mistakes in handling this, yes, but he is filling the orders as promised.
Again, the only reason I can imagine he hasn't communicated this very well is that he is simply trying to get on with it and not let outside circumstances interfere with his business, although they clearly have.

But, I guess we'll wait and see.
I'd just ask you guys to do the same until all the evidence is in.

Instead of comparing him to an "ass of a junkie".
I gotta say, that was pretty fucking uncalled for, especially from a guy that wasn't involved with ordering a product from Midnight or having dealings with him of any description.

Anyway, carry on.

Pope, I agree, and this is about where I was at when I finally got my pedal. He briefly talked to me about his situation when I pushed for a tracking number and where my shit was (after he said he had shipped it about 3 months prior). I can understand that, and I don't think he's a scam artist, because he is fulfilling orders. It was a pretty dumb decision to keep making promises about delivery times, avoiding contact with customers who had dropped $250+ on his pedals, and then deleting their complaints when all it would have taken was a "Hey guys, sorry, personal stuff is delaying your orders. They are being built as fast as I can, but I can't guarantee a ship date." Literally two sentences would have stopped all of this recent backlash I think. I've got nothing against him, but I don't think I would order again in the near future (despite his work being of top quality and sounding great).

Yeah, I know, I can't explain why he'd delete the comments.
Like I said, I can't defend him, he has to do that.
I just feel like there's something else going on here, but Nic needs to make big amends if he's going to move forward from here.
It is something as simple as just communicating that there have been difficulties and setbacks. If I was a customer I'd be a little miffed about delays, but would be understanding as long as there was communication.
Again, I can't fully comprehend why that hasn't happened here.
