It's an Ape Blaster and I'm still butthurt even after a good night's sleep and pineapple curry for breakfast

Ah dude, curry should fix everything.
Plus the Blaster is only gonna get stepped on, so don't stress.
IT WILL BE LOVED.

I count it as practice, though.

I do but in a more painful sense :idk: Like learning not to jump off of a house because you broke your leg trying it.

What I was getting at is that I get too attached too easily. It's dumb.

Oh yeah, I start crushin' easily and have to try and chill out or I'll only get three hours of sleep and spend all of the next day in nervous anticipation.
Don't dwell on the hypothetical.
Cool as a fuckin' cucumber, son.
Practice not giving a shit.
That's what I've been trying to do lately.

(Rant incoming, pls ignore if uninterested)

I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake playing with the people I'm playing with.

We ended up needing to change our band name (a decision I had thrust upon me with no choice in the matter). We bounced around ideas for a bit and everyone but me settled on the name Red Door.

I think the name is fucking stupid.

I told them to just drop the conversation for a bit and think of other names, but my drummer was insistant on it. He also shot down all the other names we came up with.

If we end up sticking with the name, I'm out. The only problem I face beyond that is finding another band to play with. There are none anywhere near me. So I'm screwed really if I leave, but I will not be a member of a band with that stupid a name.

I feel like all this is really bitchy of me to stay considering its just over a name, but I gotta speak my mind.

Ugh, I wanna cry.

I was playing with a couple guys a while back, some really cool intricate mathy stuff, and one day they decided our name was Technicolor Dream Sleep.

This was the last straw after numerous times driving 45 minutes to this guys house to practice and having to knock on the door for an hour to wake him up, having to drive him to the music store to buy picks and 9 volts, and numerous practices that ended up being 15 minutes of practice and 3 hours of smoking.

So yeah, if you're not happy, dont feel bad for leaving.

I finally had my frantabit money and then my wife's harddrive broke down, so I went and bought her a new one. It's bittersweet because I rather not have her stress and be saddened over it, as that kills me, but on the other hand now I won't have a frantabit for a good long while. :(

The band name deciding should be a group decision. And ALL members must agree to the name. I think it's the right way to go about all decisions within the band. A true democracy. Nothing worse than someone trying to be the leader. Pink Door would be a better name though. Reminds me of a vag :yay: Mmmmm. Love me some vag :thumb:

There's an active band in Victoria called Red Door, so that's not the best idea. I quickly googled Black Lagoon and it came up with two other active bands so i'm guessing that or risk of copyright infringement is the reason for the change?
IMO it is a VERY BAD IDEA to give a band the same name as an existing band that was fairly established in the past or is currently active, you're just making things confusing when people try to find you online, and IMO if i had a project running and someone else popped up out of nowhere using the same name once i already had an obvious online presence i would be pretty pissed. Tell them about Red Door being taken as an excuse to think of a better name, because you're right, that's a stupid band name

Yeah, putting the band name/website/branding before making at least some music is a pretty typical sign that people have stars in their eyes and have no intention of putting in the requisite hard work/effort.
