It made me feel fucking good again after being down in the dumps so much lately. Also my ears are ringing even though I brought my nice earplugs, so there's that. All in all, it made "me" feel like ME again after the shit moods I've been in lately.

THANKS MUSIC

My band opened for Jucifer the last tiime they came through my neck of the woods! It was interesting playing on the stage that they already set the wall of amplifiers up on - we had practically no space for all of us to set up, but even just the aesthetic of that wall was enough to give some extra energy to the room. I totally get what you mean by entering a trance, just that constant vibration gets to you after not long.

I can see that, but I think it's a good thing
I only briefly talked to Amber at the merch table, but she seemed super nice. I'm still confused as to whether she goes by "Amber," "Gazelle," or what.....

my lil sis lives in sicily. beautiful country. lots of air there. and larva. wear your thickest-soled trainers and buon viaggio.

I live about 60 miles away, in northern New York, so I am well padded. Plus, work boots.

oh that syracuse. and that (new) york.

paris (texas), venice (florida), cambridge (massachusetts), berlin (new hampshire)... the states is like a model village of europe.

Yeah, primarily the east coast is silly like that. Around here, most of our town names are either Francophone (Juneau, Fond du Lac, Eau Claire), weird Anglicized versions of French interpretations of Native-American words (Milwaukee, Oconomowoc, Chenequa, Sheboygan), or the most bland, uncreative things ever (Brookfield, Shorewood). Otherwise there is a New Berlin, but it's pronounced with the emphasis on the "Ber" rather than like the city in Germany.

i like the native american ones best. i think that's more authentic, more honest. more dignity in that.
shopping for city names from the atlas like it was a sears catalogue reveals a lack of imagination.
have a lot of respect for the native american side of north american culture. surprised that isn't a bigger influence on popular culture there, music, literature, etc. though i'm the wrong side of the pond to really judge properly.
just seems that the predominant us culture is white mid-atlantic and corporate.
i think native american history has a great sense of majesty and romance to it, an original equal to anything in the european tradition. maybe i'm just weird.

Yah dude, Native culture is highly marginalized.

I'm over the whole white-guilt thing, but its still very true that their people were super fucked over by "Manifest Destiny."

Having my partly Native friend share his family tobacco with me recently was super cool. It was good tobacco (and not from an area known for growing tobacco, definitely better than American Spirit), and it's really cool to learn more about that sort of culture that is hardly extant despite living on this land my entire life (he was talking recently about making a Kinnikinnick).

It's a real fucking shame how shitty of a deal Native peoples have been dealt in our contemporary society. I could go on about high levels of alcoholism and low levels of education they experience, but this is the happy thread. However, like I said, Native North Americans got fucked over really hard historically.

The curse is broken. After 3 failed pedal builds, I tried building a passive volume pedal Thursday, but it didn't work. I was distracted by the prospect of getting laid. Well, I got laid and came home yesterday. This morning, I compared it to the diagram and found that I had wired both jacks wrong. I rewired them and fixed another joint that was loose. Lo and behold, the motherfucker worked. Sex makes you better at soldering.

All was not lost. Bleeps and bloops exported without a hitch. Fucking victory lap time.
