for the trigger you can get a drum machine or drum app* for your tablet/phone, plug it into a tremolo and then have the drum trigger the dsd and then goes quiet (off time of the tremolo cycle)

*other sound source could be a fixed note, radio news or you could get a synth or synth app and run something with an arpegiator or sample and hold so it triggers the dsd.

other idea if you got the moog ring mod, you can ran the carrier out in trem mode (so you can get the up and down and have increasing and decreasing trigger) and use the broadcast to modulate the carrier frequency with the sample and hold or the staircase wave and it will give some random repetition of the trigger that is feeding the dsd.

How hard would it be to mod the Joyo D-Seed for external tap tempo? There is a native tap tempo mode activated by tapping both onboard momentary switches at once (awkward), and an external switch in for cycling between two delay modes/presets.

Although, could be cool to externally trigger mode switching if the settings are right and there's not too much lag in channel switching. I've seen these go for crazy cheap used....

why not get a dd5 or dd7, if you're patient you can find those around 80-95, it depends on the logic could be straight forward modding the joyo or could be complex because it will probably need a logic circuit in order to maintain the bypass and the other footswitch functional and have the external tap. (the cost of the joyo + modding + time in the process)

If it is pressing both switches and assuming they are not actuators on little switches (like boss, nux, dod) it shouldn't be to bad? I think....don't know...have to mess with one. But autopilot is right that you could probably pick up a dd5 or 7 for probably cheaper than the total cost of mods (I just got mine for 80). The channel switching though could be neat...

I was doing stuff like that with my moog and then I plugged in the wrong adapter like an idiot . Haven't had time to sit down and sort through the SMD caps/ics to find out what burned. Though I probably could do something similar with the sick pitch king or the Trogotronic 669.

Triggering the DSD with a source and a tremolo (memento was what I used) was how I was doing it, but I was trying to use the envelope peaks of the biloma as a somewhat more expressive trigger (well that and I sold all my tremolos).

Feeding radio signals in is a brilliant idea though! Broadcast has been great though (I'm just really bad at doing two things at once, like tap tempo changes and turning knobs). Thank you!

DD-5 is most interesting to me because I really like the hold function as well....

Just for the tap tempo trick it is easier...

If I find a D-Seed thing at the right price it might be worth it I do the work and maybe add more stuff to it. Circuit bends and stuff...but I dunno about pushing two switches at once....but maybe

Now I want to go look for one...

Yeah--you should be able to get your D-Seed on for less than $50 if you keep your eyes out--add it to the pile with the Nux VomCore.

have you tried a adsr from a synth app, i think it can get you close, but i guess you want the delayed signal to have some sort of the instrument you are playing, to process/play a role in the trigger not only an external source that you will also need to focus/control

The dsd kinda acts weird with different signals into the trigger. Sometimes it changed the delay time (kinda made it a rhythmic repeater but it also get's a lot of bleed over giving a modualted kinda flavor).

I could try the envelope from the FreqBox (but that doesn't usually work so well).

I was thinking...maybe change the d.time pot on anything with a vactrol/LDR-LED thing with the LED getting lit by a CV source. I know the broadcast drove an led.

It looks like the DD-20 can be either tap tempo or memory switch with an external switch (and it is switchable via the second switch)...so that could be fun (much like the joyo).

I am also thinking about adapting the shaft of a servo to the shaft of a pot. Then using a 555 timer or arduino to drive ttthe PWM motor of the servo. They get like 180 degrees of rotation. could be an automated, cv-controlled idea on the Third Hand?

What is the cheapest delay I can get right now (like $20 or less with free shipping...maybe?)? Doesn't matter what it is, just gotta work and have a pot for delay time?

Eh, just remembered I have a bunch of PT2399 chips around. Should probably just use those. effort.

Gotta stop getting sidetracked and just work on the other delay project.
