Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Yay old-puppy!
Overseeing this website construction and it's been a constant stream of problems for the past week and a half.
The people who the website is for kept changing prices, which made a bunch of problems.
The website guys were supposed to copy the old site and didn't, which made problems.
They want to charge for correcting the formatting that wouldn't need correcting if they had copied the old site.
Since I'm "in charge" and didn't yell at them in the first place about not copying the old site I get yelled at for the problems.
But like, isn't it normal to make changes if a client doesn't like what you did?
If I knew html hard coding I'd do the shit myself.

That feeling when you've got four pedals coming to you and the mailman drives by your mailing, totally skipping it...

I feel like I don't have enough time to dig myself out of my current job so I can get on track with something I actually give a shit about.

USPS tracking is going back and forth on me -- either my 1776 is on the way to fuzzonaut or it's stuck in customs... and it keeps changing it's mind.

Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
USPS tracking has been going haywire everywhere. I ship stuff and they don't update the tracking until it is delivered (but it is usually on time). Customs is totally random too. Sometimes my stuff goes through Chicago or Port of Los Angeles. Never can tell.
Sucks to sell stuff and the tracking says package is waiting for acceptance or something until it is delivered and trying to explain that to people. I've also had it say that it is at the post office in one zip code and switch like 7 times in one day (that one was late, but it was like they just drove it around in circles in downtown Los Angeles).
Still better than UPS or FedEx though, so you've got that. haha.
My irritation, and I am sure it has been said a ton, is talking in gear demo videos. When the video is 3/4 explaining a freaking knob, 1/8th intro music/animation, and 1/8th actual playing, it just pisses me off.
Also, what the hell is with all the "worship" or "Christian" specific gear demos? Do people have the stamp of a youth pastor on gear before they think it is acceptable to use? Isn't hoarding gear kind of not Christian? Like why do you need a ring mod and modular synth for worship music (I understand there are Christian bands that might use it, but these are usually referencing church house band use)? I dunno, seems weird to me. Just demo the gear, say you like it or don't. Why does it have to get religious? To each his own, I guess?
The other thing that has been bothering me, and this might be Los Angeles specific, is why in the hell do people not want to provide service when I have cash in hand. Went out to eat, everybody is too cool to seat us/take our order/etc (even though it was empty), had cash to by over a thousand dollars in wood and no one would talk to me, ordered 5k in tile and they keep forgetting to call us back/update us. Insane. Tried to order a dumpster and not a damn place would call back, take our order, or even deliver on time (I even gave them lead time).

I feel that way about any genre-specific gear demo. Being told that X is what you need to make Y is a perfect way to dodge having to be creative with what you have.

I can't imagine watching a christian gear demo. dotted eight note delays, dotted eight note delays everywhere.

But how else will you find the perfect fuzz for doom?
In all seriousness most of the gear-hungry musician crowd aren't particularly interested in doing anything different than flogging their immediate inspirations so the demo trend makes sense i guess.
The religious aspect isn't even the salient part IMO, it's just another boring set of aesthetic/sonic/theoretical guidelines for people to fall into and never escape, like the mind-numbingly clinical djent and prog demos you'll have to wade through if you ever find yourself interested in extended range guitars.

Thank the skies I can barely make use of a standard guitar in standard tuning. haha.
I have friends that live and die by prog. They sit and chat about the most moot points and why everything else is inferior. I have to hear about the cover art on that one Yes album or how that Genesis album with "lamb" in the title all the damn time. I can't imagine what happens if they get into gear haha (well one guy is, but he only talks albums when they get together for wine parties). I love hanging out with them, but mention Ramones or Melt Banana or something and you are an instant a-hole dumbass. haha.
They were talking about the Aristocrats the other day and asked me to go see them and I said, "Not my thing. Checked it out and didn't like the it". Then I got "Well describe to me their 'sound'. Do you even know who they are?"

But watching those guys dick around on a guitar. Nah, I will pass. haha.

Haha. Is that the way kids are doing it? It makes light of something that I never really thought of though and why some stuff seems extremely difficult to play when I try.
Is it sad that I just heard of djent last year (I think it was a Kayser video showing off his guitars when I searched to see if lastgasp had demos)? I always just called it metal.
