Grooveboxes are starting to get expensive again. I just scored a MC 303 for $100 including shipping. They're passing like $200 usually. I saw a RM1x for $200. Thinking of getting.

I did just get an MS 20 Mini though. I promised that would be my last synth with keys and to be honest I don't really want anything else. If I ever got you know.. "ONE MORE THING" it would be a a DX7 or something...cause I absolutely REFUSE to go Euro (not cause I don't like them, cause I do, but because I will NOT go down that rabbit/money pit/hole.) I also like the Novation Bass Station II.

So yeah...grooveboxes cause they're cheap (for now'ish).

I should add the above picture is my favorite set up in this thread for the sheer utilitarianism.

My next three synths:
1. KORG VOLCA FM (Wanted a DX7 and this is close enough for me [i.e. SPACE])
2. SHRUTHI (Thinking the Steiner Filter Bank...maybe another year will do the POLIVOKS)
3. Groovesizer TB-2

I'm not a concert pianist so don't need keys (and have three synths with keys already). I grew up on Digitech Multieffect pedals so don't mind menu diving. HATE things that take up a lot of space and are a hassle to deliver (I am eventually going to get one more cheap guitar but the idea of the mail person delivering it is giving me anxiety/dread/fear/loathing/gas/boner/nausea).

There are so many Shruthi boards, let me know how you like that Steiner filter. I'm building a Shruthi XT soon and got a Yamaha CS80 filter board for it.

Will do. I have a few more pieces of gear I hope to acquire this year (nothing outrageous price wise per my taste) but 2017 is the year I start building...THANKS TO YOU!

But seriously per your posts anything I acquire 2017 has to be a kit. I made it my rule.

I think I'm going to hold off on the Shruthi though and get a Groovesizer. I plan on putting 4000 waveforms on it and really using that as the base of the sound. Then I want to run modulated waveforms through my pedals and other synths.

It's going to be a "learning experience". Like a sabbatical where I don't get paid for my efforts and nobody ends up happy. I already have, in my mind, a mountain of gear so still have tons of stuff to play with.

Should we take our discussions to the Shruthi thread anyway?

Sorry I ruined your life.

It is fun though, I only started a couple months ago and now I'm building these synths. Nothing is impossible as long as your take your time.

Don't know if there is a Shruthi thread, feel free to make one though and get this baby started.

I will make one soon. I know there are whole forums dedicated to these things. Maybe a desktop synth thread? Open source synth thread? xOX box people and such welcome as well?

Hey, where did you get yours? I'm finding it difficult to believe that the only place to pick this stuff up is in the UK.

I honestly thought of sending (I pay) you another kit (not XT), having you build it and play it for a while, then I eventually get it. NJ Bros gotta stick together. If this was an option (but it is not as of now), I would send you the Steiner.

I bought mine from Old Crow: http://cs80-com.myshopify.com/products/ ... ynthesizer. I am buildling his GX1 Bandpass eurorack filter as well, and picked this up with that.

You can pick up all your Shruthi needs at Modular Addict! They have the 3 standard filter boards (SMR4, Dual SVF, and 4PM) with the main PCBs and the programmed ICs. I'm not sure where people get other filter boards from though. I know Tubeohm has a couple more but outside of that I dunno.

I'm all for building stuff if you want me to! Just send me a PM whenever you want.

The Groovesizer Kit might be up your alley. I bought one ready made. I'm excited to load 4,000 waveforms on it. I love the Harvestman Piston Honda MK II but as I said...I refuse to go modular.

Refusal to go modular is often the first step to going modular, see you in that world soon!

I think the MidiGAL might be more advanced and more up my alley though. The Arduino hackability of the Groovesizer MB though is mighty interesting. Hope that they get some kits of that back in stock soon.
