yeah man. i don't think i could do chicago for too long.
we get similar weather up here in grand rapids -- it blows. but as a city we're much smaller -- this also makes our costs on things way less.

on a whole i live in a very affordable city so i have it easy street. it's kind on the come up right now so things are starting to increase in price but it's still super manageable. plus michigan so feels like everybody in your band has a house with a basement -- definitely makes having a band way easier.

We just sold our house, escrow closed yesterday. Our mortgage was way cheaper than rent here, the new owner's mortgage is twice what ours was, but it's gotten too expensive to live here now that we're having kids. Plus the schools suck and crime is nuts. In about a month we're moving out of state and buying a house outright with some savings left over.

Got to see the SLK shed in person yesterday. Holy shit. Impressive organization.

The Pitbull sounded amazing! The Skyhammer however was not my cup of tea. Way too loose. Glad I ordered a Blackhawk Loki instead.

Nice. Glad that worked out for you.
I suspect SLK's pictures don't do the shred shed justice.

So we have like 2 weeks left in the year (give or take).

What doom records should I have been listening to that I missed -- outside of the really great DR releases from ILFriends that landed around us this year? Both Nadja records were phenomenal, and I really dug the Church of Misery record, but I am super awful at keeping up with the jams of the bevested.
good deals are here.

was the literal quote he said. cause there's stacks of amps behind stacks of amps behind other stacks of amps.

were you an indian fan? or lord mantis?

the new cobalt record is pretty good. i feel like i didn't do a lot of new music this year. it's been kind of odd.

been off work, at the house with the wife and baby so this past week i've been consuming new music at rapid rates. it's been awesome.

Yeah I liked both Indian and the Charlie-Fell era of Lord Mantis quite a bit. I heard the new Mantis EP a couple of times but never got a chance to sit down with it properly -- I know their drummer passed away earlier this year, which was a real shame.

Missed the Cobalt record, but heard good things?

Yeah. The new Lord Mantis EP was just alright. Sucks about the summer. I reward that this week. Big time bum out.

Charlie does the vocals on the new Cobalt and I really enjoyed it. I really dig the sound of his voice so that's a plus but the record was great.
