Just nabbed a Varigate 4 to see how I get on with the Varigate ecosystem of sequencers. Planning for a 2nd case and considering Varigate 8+ as the brains.

jia. Belgrad is GOOD. i thought it did everything amazingly and has so much freaking range and potential that it.... was hard to do the standard filtering. which Jove is WONDERFUL at.

both together? MOOF.

also, i am SO moist to try a Scanned and soooooooo drenched that the Nebs 2 are s'posed to ship this week.

Behndy do you still use the Limaflo Motomouth? I see one posted for sale and I’m thinking about it.

also also, who wanted to know if i was going to move the SampleSlicer? she is going to be listed WHENEVER I GET AROUND TO LISTING ALL THE THINGS.

MotoMoof - i have such a weird relationship with it. i always forget to fuck with it, then when i do i LOVE it. but it can be pretty subtle sometimes.

I used to have a Belgrad and can confirm everything Delta said above. It can get pretty gnarly with the FM input as well. It's a great filter. I ended up including mine in a trade deal, but wouldn't hesitate to pick up one again
I have his old one and I love it. I haven't owned any other filters so take my opinion with a grain of salt but this is another confirmation that it's sick. I used to want three sis but this makes me happy

I just picked up Muse's Belgrad. I definitely haven't spent enough time with it but it certainly does sound good, contrasts the sound of three sisters nicely. Maybe a bit overkill on the resonant peaks for my filter selection

Not sure if it'll matter but I'll post more thoughts after I spend more time with it.

Okay, ladies and germs... euro-ish DIY question for you: is there a standard / safe level for the amperage of a signal used in eurorack?

I'm thinking through some possible projects and keep coming back to the idea of using a 5V USB power source, since 0-5V is a nice, usable voltage range for things. An iPhone charger puts out 5V at 1000 mA, but if that amperage is WAY OVER THE LINE then - obviously - I'll need to find a way to tame it. Just don't want to melt anything in the rack, yanno?

I think I’ve heard you can’t damage something by providing too much amperage, the device will only take what it needs. Too much voltage can be a problem on the other hand. If I’m wrong someone please jump in here, I don’t want to be responsible for any fires!

FYI all Intellijel Rubicon 2 is available at Control (and possibly other retailers).

Edit: does anyone have one of these? I thought I was set on Morgasmatron but I've always wanted that SEM/OB sound...

This is broadly true for plugging a supply/signal of the correct voltage into something.

However there are exceptions!!! Basically, a circuit will draw as much current as it can from a source depending on its resistance (V=IR -> I=V/R where V=voltage, I=current, R=resistance). So you plug a 5V 1A supply into a circuit that uses 1mA @ 5V (meaning it has a resistance of 5K ohms) and the other 999mA are irrelevant.

So it's always possible that a circuit could be designed to draw a max current of, for example, 0.5A @ 5V, because the manufacturer considered it so vanishingly unlikely a higher current source would ever be introduced they didn't bother to design protection. In this case if you plugged in your 5V 1A power supply it would overload the circuit and probably do some damage (overheating components, melting solder joints etc).

So... it depends. I have no idea what euro inputs are actually designed for so I'm afraid I can't help on the specific numbers that are safe with modular gear.
