Might be DJing a birthday party with my bassist this saturday. I have no idea what kind of music we're going to play/what people want us to play. Knowing the person who's throwing it, it wont be anything Top 40. But I know there will be free liquor and food. So I'm happy.

My loans came through for grad school! Now I just need a place to live in Eugene.

Also, just ending a pretty good day. Woke up late, ate some delicious chicken, picked up my lady friend and went on an amazing all-day canoeing adventure down the bear river, then we.... Life's been really good to me lately.

I had a blast visiting friends and meeting Kyle of Blackout Effectors at the shop in Asheville last weekend. I also found a sweet place to live cause I'm moving there in two weeks! Fully stoked. Going to be living with a drummer, next door to a bassist... no noise complaints!

Also, I have a stereo jamman I thought was dead and gone. I let some kids use my gear at a camp I worked at last summer and it got fried with the wrong power supply and was sitting dead and unresponsive for over a year. Plugged it in today with hopes of trouble shooting it and IT WORKED!!! That had to be some magic or karma or something.

Good vibes.

Tonight I played my first open mic night in five years. I was sooooooooo nervous. A bunch of people showed up and the place was packed. My buddy and I nailed the songs we wrote and people seemed to genuinely enjoy us. Some random girl even wanted us to play for her in the parking lot after we finished in the coffee shop. All in all a really awesome night.

If I do well in my classes and pass my exams I'll get funding for the second year (from what I hear pretty generous funding), but I have to get through that first year...

All my professor's told me to not consider any offers as "serious" unless they came with funding, but I only got one offer so I'm taking it. It's crazy. I applied to eleven grad schools. I have a gpa of 3.65, scored in the top 15% on the English section and in the top 25% of the math section of the GRE, and still wasn't good enough to be considered a competitive applicant. I got ten rejection letters

Good work :thumb: Random girls asking for songs must be awful nice.

On a similar note, my gig tonight went well. I goofed a bit, but I recovered, and being a noise/drone kind of show, no one seemed to be the wiser, and I got plenty of compliments. I'm still amazed that I get compliments for playing what I play (especially from strangers!). I guess that's good though, right?

It was nice! She was pretty too, which made it that much better. Glad your show went well too :thumb: You're in Fort Collins right?
