Does anyone have much experience with them?
They seem way to hard to track down, but seem really cool. Very much looks like what I'm after in a guitar.
I've played a few 4003s, and they always feel amazing, but the only guitar I've ever played was an Indy brand copy, and it was a 360/6 copy, and it blew my mind. I played it through an Ampeg V-4, hit it with a fuzz, and I was greeted with insane clarity.
Since then I've been thinking about Rics a lot. All Rickenbacker players on the internet seem to be total elitists, or old dad rockers playing a $3000 guitar through a $50 practice amp. (The rickenbacker forums are so awful...)
I'm particularly interested in knowing what you paid for yours, and how it handles fuzz. When I ran that indy copy with all the gain, it sounded amazing. Totally changed my mind on what a Rickenbacker could sound like. It seems if you ask elsewhere, people freak out, and tell you that you`re doing it wrong. I don't agree, or care though.
So yeah, anyone?
Anyone here have a Rickenbacker 620?

Re: Anyone here have a Rickenbacker 620?
i have a 650. it has a wider neck than a 620 and toaster pickups, so it has a different feel and sound. that said, it's a very cool guitar. rics are a bit quirky and are quite different to play compared to fenders and gibsons, especially for leads. the strings sit high off the body and the tone controls take some getting used to. the tone isn't quite as spiky or biting as a fender and the sustain is nowhere near a gibson. but it has a cool sound of its own and it takes fuzz quite well. i would try to find one to play before you decide to buy. there's no telling what kind of electronics were in the copy you played.

Cool thanks.
I've talked to a shop, and they said I can order one in if I put down a deposit. If I don't like it, I can just get the deposit back in full too!
So yeah. Probably going to order one in the next 2 months.

Re: Anyone here have a Rickenbacker 620?
I had a 330 for a time, it wasn't reacting well with my set up, but it was one of the best playing guitars I had ever played. It particularly didn't like my heavily modified civil war clone (well, it made a really cool sound, but it wasn't the really cool sound I was after.)
I wound up paying $1500 for that 330
A 620 from that shop runs $1279
Don't know what 360s ran

Cool.
I'm paying a bit more because I'm in Canada, but that's not far off.
Good to know. I'm running a turbo rat (that you sold me!) through an Ampeg VT-22 with the old altec speakers, with an additional 2x12 cab with vintage 30s.
Sounds pretty rad. I feel it would fit well.
