NGD Squier 51 score

Sounds and plays great. The pups aren't the stock ones. GFS in the bridge, not sure what is in the neck. Have it set up in A standard and it handles the loweer tuning and big strings wonderfully. Sounds killer through my Bassman. Have yet to run it thru my full rig (Marshall SLP reissue and Laney GH50l) but I am super pleased with the tones I can get along with being able to do volume swells now.

Whoever had it before me had it painted. Not much of a yellow kind of guy but I can dig it. Also these things are a fucking steal for what they cost used.

Fender discontinuing the Squier version of this guitar to re-release it for quadruple the price was a crime.
I'd love to find one of these and yours looks super cool.

The Fender uses a different wood for the body if I remember correctly. Squier is basswood, Fender is ash. So you have that upgrade. Plus I am sure the bridge is nicer as well and you should have better electronics. I wouldn't buy it new. I'd wait to find a used one. The Squier is a steal. With some upgrades they are fucking killer. Mine came with upgrades which was even cooler and I got it for a bit less than they normally go for used. I have a new appreciation for Squiers and Fender esque guitars.

Great to see some '51 love. Makes me miss mine. I had a 3ts finish, shell guard with Fender Atomic at the bridge, and (I think) a Duncan at the neck. Hmmmm....I'm mostly playing lap steel now, but this gives me slight nostalgic GAS

For what it is, this is a kilelr guitar. The more I play it the more I like it. It's less output than my other guitars so the tonal options are awesome. The clean tones I can get are rad and with fuzz and OD this thing sounds awesome as well. Considering the super low tuning and my brutish playing style this thing is holding up well.

yup, definitely relate to that. All around great guitar, especially with some upgrades.

I almost bought one in blond just because I thought it would look cute beside my ‘51 P reissue.

If it had been a 1 pickup single coil I would have.

I never got the pickup configuration on these. The design aesthetic is so alternate-past missing-link 50s sorta thing but it's stuck with the 80's single-hum combo. I probably would have coughed up the $80 they were closing these out for seven years ago if I hadn't found that so jarring.

Really fun guitars.

A friend of mine got one as his first guitar years ago and I was hoping he wouldn't take to guitar so I could lift the 51 from him.

To each their own. Pickup configuration works for me. Ton of tonal options at my disposal and looks don't really matter when the guitar plays and sounds great.

Super fun guitars. Stripped the back of the neck the other night. First guitar I have done that to. Need to sand it a bit but it plays great.
