Power supply question

So, this is not so much a "DIY" question as a "I am stupid when it comes to electricity" question. I have a Pignose Hog 30 amp, which came with a big, official looking power cable. It takes 12v DC, and the thing had some kind of switch on the cable. Unfortunately, I loaned the amp to a friend, and when they returned it, the cable was gone... and since they returned it because they had moved from their old apartment, I'm not ever getting that cable back.
My question is, do I have to buy a new Pignose power supply for this thing ($40), or should any 12v DC supply work? I was hoping to sell this thing or trade it in, since I didn't ever use it even when I had the power supply, so I'd rather not spend the money if I can avoid it.
Oh, and the Hog 30 is has a rechargeable battery... I don't know if that makes a difference.
