What is it about the 1SPOT

that makes it incompatible with certain pedals (e.g. the ekkos and a few others that I've read about)?
does the same stuff happen if you use a different multiple PS... a power brick or something along those lines?
I don't actually understand the subtle differences between PS types and what pedals use them and I'd hate to wreck something because of that...

Someone else could probably explain this better than me but here it goes:

Most pedals run on 9 volts of power which is what the 1 spot supplies. However other pedal usually require more voltage, like a lot of bigger/high end EHX pedals and what not. (I think Line 6 is another one.)

My 1 spot has served me quite sometime, never failed, and I've never experienced any of the negative comments people have made on it. you just have to use it with the right pedals.... boss, digitech, devi pedals, mxr, some ehx, other boutique pedals tend to use 9 volt as well.....and etc.

There is also an additional problem when using daisy chains with some pedals (esp. EHX) where even if its 9V, it still won't work. It has to do with the grounding, and you can run it by itself on a 1spot, but it still won't work on a daisy chain with other pedals.

Moen, and a couple of other positively grounded pedals come to mind.
You can't mix and match.
I've had a one spot for over 2 years now with no problems, and I got it used with a pedal.

a pp2 or a fuel tank can solve a lot of those problems, but they are a lot pricier (proguitarshop has a 20% of sale on trex for this week )
They have isolated outputs so you avoid any ground loop noise problems, and aren't switching power supplies like the 1spot.
You can argue the finer points of these benefits, but I think they are worth it. That being said, I use a 1spot becase I'm poor

As long as you only use the 1spot for 9v negative tip type uses (which most pedals are) you're fine. Don't just plug in any random thing, check the manual or look it up on the net.

That's just the thing... the Ekko specifically (and I assume other pedals have whatever quality makes the Malekko Ekko's prone to this) USES a 9v DC w/ negative tip, but specifically says don't use the 1SPOT with it... ah well, I have plenty of regular wall warts, just tryin to figure out how not to blow things up that I plan on getting

It is a very rare occurance, but teese advises against using a 1spot because apprently some of them can potentially draw full power from the 1spot (all 1700mA...or as much as isn't being used) and do some real damage to certain pedals.

Only solution is a pp2/fuel tank jr or wallwarts. Manual says 200mA but I dunno what the actual draw is.

I have a 1spot and just got a Fuzzy Lady which uses a center positive adaptor. Is there center postive adaptors for center negative barrels, i.e. the adaptors that the 1spot comes with?
