I'm getting my guitar and bass set up with flatwounds

I'm goin' flatwound.

Will have a full set-up done for both my Warmoth Strat and Warwick Corvette with flatwound strings.

Going with teh Pyramids for the bass and teh Thomastik Infelds for teh guitar.

On the lap steel, they make a huge difference because I'm dragging a tone bar across the strings. No scratch, just the smooth slide.

Love the TI's.

Thought there was a lot of hype and high price, but tried a set.
I've swapped my P and Jazzes over to TI flats, and put a set on my daughters bass this weekend.

They play like butter and just keep getting better sounding as they age.

Haven't tried the guitar strings, but if they are anything like the bass version, I think you're gonna like them.

I actually use a set of Gretsch Jazz .012 flatwounds for my Gibson Les Paul Studio. They sound fantastic, and they last forever. I really dig playing with a Chet Atkins style on it.
p.s.
I used flatwounds on my tele (a much lower gauge of course) and they sounded cool when I was recording with them, but overall it wasn't a fantastic idea. Once the whole Fender Twang sound was dulled by the flatwound strings I found the guitar to be kind of boring live. Sometimes it's just better to have a guitar that sounds like everybody else's. Now I use electro-harmonix strings for the round-wound and gretsch for the flats. I'm very satisfied with my string choices now
