Gearmond wrote:something I own: Rocktron Hypnotic Flanger. while i wish the random LFO was more prominant, this is proooooooobably one of the more versatile flangers out there. which is odd because its relatively subtle and chorus-like.

I'd say the same about the Rocktron Zombie. From descriptions, it's all 'SUPERMETAL!!!!', but it's actually a better boost for metal pedals that need a little more oomph or adding that Master of Puppets low end to standard tuned guitar.

Same for the Coffin Case Blood Drive. Great MXR-designed overdrive inside that cute pedal box.

i think i'll also pimp North Effects. he makes really faithful and functional clones of classic fuzzes, distortions, and tremolos for about the same price as a Boss, more or less. and the dude REALLY knows his effects history.

They're pretty readily available for around $150. And it sounds great even though it's a multi-functional cheesy-looking digitech thing.

Vox Satchurator, i'd say it's more of a punk pedal than a wanker pedal.

I've seen $150 mentioned as a price before -- are we talking used? (And I just got yet another delay to add to my veritable delay arsenal. Oh, the GAS pains!)
