You could go pure snob and get a White Penguin or Viking bass. Did Gretsch make a bass version of either of those?
nope. My only gripe with the white falcon is...the white I have played a couple and they are AMAZING I just hate the3 white with gold hardware oh and the price tag is a killer

For what I do, I'm happy. I just want a p90 hollowbody and I'm done finding instruments. Jag for single coil / first love LP copy for that humbucker output Harmony for a hollowbody SC Epi T-bird for bass.
But I'd throw it all away for a white penguin bass. So much class.

In a quandary, I want to build a Korina P with 2 single coil P pickups in the ‘70s jazz position or with two Thunderbird pickups mounted Gibson style. May have to build two new basses.
it's becoming more clear that i'm close to the end of acquiring guitars. every time i get out one of the electrics i haven't played for awhile i have an initial period of dial-in and then it's "holy crap, this is GOOD."

i've got a Taylor 210 for my acoustical needs. for electrics, I'm running a 2007 American Standard Strat with a hum bucker in the bridge, and a 2010 Fender american special tele. I love them both to death, but my Strat is my baby. Can do everything, sounds great, takes a beating, etc. I've played other strats and for some reason mine just has the perfect feel. I love it.

All my guitars are freakin' old, they got old guitar problems.
(Because I'm bored I was gonna do a run down like GardenoftheDead, but then decided it would take too long and no one probably wants to hear it anyway.)

I am really Happy with my Ernie Ball 25th Anniversary MusicMan 4 string HSS, essentially a pretty Reflex. All of the different pickup combos, the active/passive switch, smooth neck, decently light weight but big TOANZ. My acoustic is a Jasmine by Takamine, good enough for livingroom action, I have had it for 5 years. When I must play the Metalz, I have aan Ibanez Iceman with Deactivator pickups. A very fun guitar.
i think i discovered one problem with my Epiphones: they pot the pickups on them approximately as thoroughly as ancient Egyptians potted the pharaohs. once you get the covers off, they're literally encased in a solid block of wax. though i screwed up and degaussed the bridge PU magnet with my soldering iron trying to get the cover off (a replacement is on the way), the neck PU sounds much better with the wax out and the cover off. this also gives me the oppo to replace the Alnico 5 magnet with an Alnico 2 to round off the sound of the PU a bit.

I just picked up my 75' Epiphone Crestwood today. I hadn't played it for the past few months because it needs a set up after I had the nut replaced. But fuck man, I love humbuckers and the sheer power this guitar kicks out rivals Jawbreaker. I plugged it into my English Muff'n -> Fuck Overdrive and I just wrote a song with lyrics within the first half hour of playing it. Time to take it up to Elderly Instruments and get this guy back in action. I'm sick and tired of single coils.
And the last few gigs I've played I felt the guitar wasn't powerful enough... its no wonder why.
