I just picked up a Japan epi black custom from the very late 90s - it's freaking amazing.samzadgan wrote:After i wrote my post a black epi custom came up on facebook for sale...original customs with gibson headstock, the guy has rewired it and put burstbuckers in. This is ticking alot of boxes...would just require refinish and replacing gold hardware for chrome...
The Japanese domestic market was allowed to use the gibson headstock as it was never supposed to leave Japan.
Straight up Gibsons without the $2000+ price tag!

Indeed - In Return is my favorite so far. Haven't spent much time with the other stuff though.emptyparadigm wrote: This. In Return > all of their other stuff, IMO.
ALSO, our dude Sam is working on the album art. So pumped. 100% pure Frazetta-influenced goodness. A little taste here:

My wife has book club tonight, so hopefully I should have enough time to make some quick demo clips later.

Any thoughts on railhammer HBs vs alumitones? I really need a new neck PUP in my baritone.

It's not in the January issue (FFOM, they're on the cover).conky wrote:Anyone have a Decibel subscription? I sent them a record for review and was wondering if one of you guys could see if they posted it in there. I've got a fuckload of new likes to the band / label pages and 8 orders yesterday. Shit just kinda blew up outta nowhere.
I haven't gotten my February issue yet. Sounds like Peter got his, or at least I'm assuming -- unless his post office/subscription is way behind. The January issue has been around for quite awhile so if the Feb. issue is just getting to people then it's possible it's in there if you're just now getting orders/likes.

I've got February w/ Napalm Death on the cover and March (huh?) with Jef Whitehead on it, didn't see it in either. Hm.

I haven't gotten my March issue yet. I read the Napalm Death issue and then the Mastodong issue. A lil' out of sequence.

i can always trust Mrs Z to put stuff in perspective though...i spoke to her about it last night...she hammered home the point...if that your dream guitar, then you'll never be happy till you have it, and in the long run this wont satisfy you...what can I say...she is right. But in all this guitar gazing online...i have had an offer for a Iceman swap, a guy wants to swap his ICT700 in white, for my IC400 in black. This one i'm really tempted by, I've had a black ICT700 and it was really nice and i stupidly sold it. Given i have 3 other guitars with a variation on that Les Paul sound and all gibson scale length, this ICT700 with the 25.5 scale and neck through should be a good variation on other guitars.
Corey...DUDE...that Cathulu Fuzz...i want to hear that thing. What family of fuzz is Cathulu based on?? or is it its own beast??
